Overview
Organs are made up of different types of tissues that perform specific functions in the body. Different organs form different systems in the body. Examples of the organs are brain, heart, lungs, stomach, intestines, spleen, kidneys, bladder, liver, uterus, ovaries and prostate. The examples of diseases are heart attack, heart failure, endocarditis, arrhythmias, and mitral valve disease. Some diseases of lungs include bronchitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. Examples of diseases of the stomach are gastritis, gastric ulcer, stomach cancer, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Hence, different types of organs have different diseases. However, some diseases may even have multiorgan involvement. For example, metastatic cancer, metabolic disorders, blood infection, blood disorders, immunodeficiency syndromes, and autoimmune disorders. Diseases of organs are diagnosed through history taking, physical examination, blood tests, urinalysis, imaging tests, and other disease-specific investigations. They are manage according to the symptoms, underlying causes and also complications.
