Pylori is a gram negative microaerophilic spiral bacteria that can be found mostly under gastric mucus layer and colonizes stomach for many years. It�s ability to secrete various enzymes can be corrosive to stomach linings leading to ulcer formation. Patient may complain of epigastric pain and weight loss. If not treated appropriately, it can cause complications such as perforation of the affected organ, stricture formation over the ulcer, bleeding or malignancy. Hence, it is important to investigate the presence of H.pylori to treat peptic ulcer disease effectively. The most accurate investigation to identify the organism is Clo-test from biopsy of the affected area.
