Meningococcal disease refers to any disease caused by meningococcus bacteria, called Neisseria meningitidis. The infection affects the lining of the brain and spinal cord, and the bloodstream leading to meningitis and septicemia respectively. It is a life threatening disease.Signs and Symptoms
