Overview
Pertussis is a respiratory tract infection characterized by sudden recurrance or intense cough. Commonly the causative organism for this condition is Bordetella Pertussis. It still remains as the most significant cause of morbidity and mortality among the children below 2 years old.Signs and Symptoms
Nasal congestion, Rhinorrhea, Sneezing, Low-grade fever, Tearing, Conjunctival suffusion, Sudden recurrance of intense coughing lasting up to several minutes followed by a loud whoop, Post-tussive vomiting and turning red with coughing, Chronic cough which may last for weekCommon Causes
