Prevention Of Diphtheria Tetanus Pertussis Hepatitis B Haemophilus Influenzae Type B Infection
Overview
Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP) vaccination, hepatitis B (HepB) vaccination, and Haemophilus Influenzae type B (HiB) vaccination are the ideal way of preventing these infections. HepB vaccine is given to newborns, 1 month-olds and 6 month-olds. DTaP and HiB vaccines are routinely given together to children at the age of 2, 3, 5, and 18 months. A booster dose for diphtheria and tetanus is given to 7 and 15 year-old kids. Other than vaccination, avoid close contact with people who are infected, do not share personal items and needles, and have protected sex. Next, keep your hands clean by washing them with soap and water, or alcohol-based hand rub. If you are sick, stay at home to prevent spreading the disease to other people.
