Overview

Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a tuberculosis vaccine. It is recommended for people living in countries where tuberculosis is common and high-risk groups such as healthcare workers. Other ways to prevent the disease include identifying people who have active disease and treat them with medications such as rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol. Besides, practice proper cough etiquette such as covering up your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, wearing masks respirators when in contact with people. This is because the virus can spread through direct contact or through inhalation of air droplets when people infected with the viral infection coughs and sneezes. Next, keep your hands clean by washing them with soap and water, or alcohol-based hand rub.
