Ketoconazole is commonly used to treat fungal infections and severe fungal infections. it can also be used in the treatment of dandruff.
Ketoconazole is an antifungal medication which inhibits fungal enzymes, altering the cell membrane permeability of the fungi and causes the accumulation of high levels of toxic hydrogen peroxide.

Ketoconazole may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies.
