Overview

Atopic Dermatitis is define as chronic eczematous skin disease that frequently begins in childhood. It is also known as eczema commonly. It causes itchiness and scratching of the skin and can appear on any part of the body.

Dry skin, Itchiness, Rashes, Cracked skin, Thickened scaly skin

Common Causes

Genetic factor, Allergy, Environmental factors

Risk Factors

Family history of atopic dermatitis or allergy, Asthma, Hay fever, Low humidity weather, Sweating

Investigation Techniques

Physical examination, Skin swab, Serum IgE, Patch test

Treatment and Prevention

Avoid triggering factors, Keep skin moisturized, Use emollients, Antihistamine for itchiness, Corticosteroid cream
