Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Overview

Mantle Cell Lymphoma is an aggressive, rare form of the non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It arises from the mantle zone of the lymph node and affects the B cells. The abnormal B cells accumulates in the lymph nodes and other organs and forms the tumour.

Signs and Symptoms

Painless superficial lymph nodes, Pruritus, Fever, Night sweats, Weight loss, Hepatosplenomegaly, Chest pain, Coughing

Genetic mutation

Risk Factors

Age, Gender, Family history of lymphoma, Previous Epstein-Barr infection, Exposure to certain chemicals and drugs, Radiation exposure, Autoimmune disease

Investigation Techniques

Full blood count, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), Blood urea and serum electrolytes, Serum LDH, B2-microglobulin, Serum uric acid, Liver function test (LFT), Chest X-ray, CT scan, PET scan, Bone marrow aspirate, Lymph node biopsy

Treatment and Prevention

Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Steroids, Bone marrow transplant
