Rhinitis

Overview

Rhinitis is the inflammation of the lining in the nasal cavity due to either activation of the immune system or infection. Rhinitis can be categorized into allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis, acute viral rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis and rhinitis medicamentosa. Each type has different causes and mechanisms thus the management can be different. The common presentations for rhinitis are sneezing, runny nose, nasal stuffiness, nose irritation, cough and watery eyes.
