Introduction of Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s

Divigel 0.1 percent Gel should be used as instructed by the doctor. Even though the conditions improved , you should continue treatment as indicated. The plan of treatment must be fulfilled in order to be more effective.

Prior to starting the treatment course, you should inform the doctor whether you have unexplained menstrual bleeding or if you have ever had a blood clot on your legs or lungs. When you have started using this medicine, you should get routine check-ups to assess the benefits of the therapy. It should not react with your other medications, and it is not generally prescribed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How To Use Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s

This medicine is for external use only. It should be applied to clean, dry and intact skin. Always wash your hands before and after using the gel. Take an appropriate amount and massage gently to the affected areas. Replace cap tightly after each use.

Side Effects

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Many side effects do not need immediate medical attention and resolve as the body responds to the medication. Tell the doctor if they continue or if you are concerned about them.

The most common side effects of this medication are breast irritation, irregular menstrual bleeding, headache, nausea, stomach pain, and abdominal distension. If any of these side effects concern you, contact your doctor. Also, inform your doctor if you experience bleeding from your vagina or if breast lumps develops.

Warning Precautions

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)

It is not advisable to consume alcohol with Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s as research has found that the combination may increase the risk of breast cancer. Alcohol may increase the estrogen levels and thus, the extra estrogen and the synthetic Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s resulted in too much estrogen.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe - High Risk)

Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s is contraindicated in pregnancy and thus the treatment should be withdrawn as soon as pregnancy is diagnosed.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)

Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s should not be used during breastfeeding.

Driving Warning (Generally Safe)

Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)

In patients with renal dysfunction, they should be closely observed when using Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s as it may cause fluid retention.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

It is recommended to avoid using Divigel 0.1% Gel 28s in patients with liver disease. If required, it should not be given during acute illness and need to be administered preferably through the transdermal route. This route bypasses the liver and thus, will not interfere with the hepatic enzymes and proteins produced in the liver.

Quick Tips

  • Divigel 0.1% Gel has a lower chances of side effects since less estrogen is used.
  • Apply it once a week to a clean, dry, non-irritated skin region below the hip, on the lower back or buttocks. 
  • Avoid being exposed to sunlight.
  • Change every 7 days and add to another skin area to avoid skin irritation. 
  • Inform the doctor of any irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting, excessive vaginal discharge or vaginal pain when taking Divigel 0.1% Gel. 
  • Avoid taking this medication and consult the doctor if you experience unexplained swelling and discomfort in your muscles, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, or vision changes. This may be signs of a blood clot.
