Introduction of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s

Forxiga 10mg tablet can be used in conjunction with other medication.

Forxiga 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food at any time of day, and try to take medication at the same time of day. The doctor will determine the dosage regimen. Don't quit taking it without consulting the doctor. You may notice an increase in your blood sugar levels and a possibility of significant complications such as kidney failure and blindness. The most prevalent adverse effects of this medication is fungal vaginal infections, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages) and urinary tract infections. This may lead to the body draining too much water. Drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration.

Before taking this medicine, inform the doctor whether you have any issues with your kidney or skin, if you have urinary tract infection also if you're consuming diuretics. Pregnant women or women who breastfeeds should contact their doctor before they administer the medicine.

How To Use Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s

This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.

Side Effects

Hypoglycemia (in combination w/ sulfonylurea or insulin)
Vulvovaginitis
Balanitis & related genital infections
Urinary tract infection
Dizziness
Rash
Back pain
Dysuria
Polyuria
Increased haematocrit
Decreased creatinine renal clearance
Dyslipidemia

Alcohol Warning (Safe)

There is no known interaction of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s with alcohol.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal reproduction studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are limited well-controlled human studies. The benefits from the use of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Advisable)

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s is contraindicated during lactation. Animal studies have shown excretion of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s in milk.

Driving Warning (Generally Safe)

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (High Risk)

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s is contraindicated in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment and patients on dialysis. This is because the glycemic efficacy of the drug depends on renal function. Dose adjustment of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s and monitoring of renal function is necessary. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Use With Care)

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s should be used with caution in patients with severe liver impairment. Dose adjustment of Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

FAQ

Does Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s cause hypoglycaemia?

Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s does not usually cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) when taken on its own. However, it may occur when other glucose controlling medications are added to your therapy due to suboptimal control of your blood glucose levels.

Why does Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s increase the risk of developing genital and urinary tract infections?

Due to the way in which Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s works to lower your blood glucose levels, Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s provides a favourable environment for fungus to thrive and grow thereby resulting in genital infections developing. Forxiga 10mg Tablet 28s also removes excess glucose by increasing the excretion of glucose into your urine which may lead to urinary tract infections. Therefore, it is advised that you increase your fluid intake and maintain good personal hygiene.
