Atomoxetine is commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd)
Atomoxetine is known to be a potent and selective inhibitor of the norepinephrine transporter (NET),2 which prevents cellular reuptake of norepinephrine throughout the brain. Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging studies have shown that atomoxetine also binds to the serotonin transporter (SERT),9 and blocks the N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor,10 indicating a role for the glutamatergic system

Atomoxetine may have side effects such as dizziness, somnolence and changes in pulse or heart rate. Therefore, it is not advisable to consume alcohol and the medication.
Atomoxetine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies and human studies do not indicate adverse effects on the fetus. However, these data are inadequate to assume that it is safe to use the medication during pregnancy. Usage is permissible in cases where benefits outweigh the risks.
Atomoxetine is found in rats milk. There are lack of human data suggesting that Atomoxetine is not present in human milk. Hence, taking the medication during breastfeeding should be avoided.
Atomoxetine may cause side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, somnolence and affect pulses, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.
Dose adjustment of Atomoxetine is not needed in patients with kidney disease.
Atomoxetine should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of atomoxetine may be needed especially in moderate or severe liver impairment.Please consult your doctor.
