Candesartan Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is not advised to take alcohol while taking this medication as alcohol can accentuate the blood-pressure-lowering effects of Candesartan. This may cause the exacerbation of side effects while taking this medication such as dizziness.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Administration of this medication during first trimester of pregnancy is not recommended and is contraindicated in the second and third trimester as there is this medication that can induce fetotoxicity and neonatal toxicity. However, this medication may be taken by pregnant mothers with proper monitoring if only clearly indicated and the benefit clearly outweighs the risk.

Lactation Not Advisable

No clear evidence of Candesartan safety in breastfeeding is available. As there are alternatives available with a clear safety profile in breastfeeding, usage of this medication during breastfeeding is not recommended.

Driving Not advisable

This medication may affect the ability to drive and operating machines as it may impair patients' concentrations due to its side effects such as dizziness and headache. Therefore, only drive if you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Patients with renal impairment on this medication should be frequently monitored for serum potassium and creatinine levels. Dose titration is recommended for patient with severe renal impairment.

Liver Use With Care

No dose adjustment needed in a patient with liver impairment taking Candesartan. Candesartan is safe in a patient with liver impairment.
