Carbocisteine is commonly used in the treatment of Respiratory Tract Disorders associated Production of Excessive Viscous Mucus including COPD

How Carbocisteine Works

Carbocisteine is a mucolytic agent. It reduces excessive or viscous mucus production by reducing the number of goblet cells in the respiratory tract. The thinning of mucus enable easier excretion by the cilia in the airway.

Side Effects of Carbocisteine

Vomiting, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Skin rashes, Itching, Dermatitis

Carbocisteine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy especially during 1st trimester. The benefits from the use of Carbocisteine in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Carbocisteine is probably safe to use during lactation. It is not known if Carbocisteine is excreted in human breast milk. Please consult your doctor before using it.
