Isosorbide mononitrate is commonly used to treat anal fissure, angina heart related chest pain, coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure, hypertensive emergency
It works by relaxing vascular smooth muscles, which then decreases the ventricle pressure and resistance in artery
Headache, Dizziness, Palpitation, Dry mouth, Confusion, Nausea, vomiting, Abdominal pain, Constipation/ Diarrhea, Flatulence
It is considered unsafe to consume alcohol with Isosorbide Mononitrate. Taking Isosorbide Mononitrate with alcohol may have increased side effects such as dizziness, headache and confusion may worsen with alcohol intake.
Studies on animals have shown no adverse effects on the fetus. However, there are no adequate studies in pregnant women.
There are limited data on usage of Isosorbide Mononitrate during lactation. It is not known if the active ingredient is also found in the milk. Therefore, usage in breastfeeding mothers are advised with care.
(Do not drive unless you are feeling well.) Because Isosorbide Mononitrate may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, and confusion, it is advisable to not drive when taking this medication.
Although Isosorbide Mononitrate may be used in patients with renal impairment, please consult your doctor for dosage adjustment.
It is advisable that Isosorbide Mononitrate be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Isosorbide Mononitrate may be needed therefore please consult your doctor.
