Uses of Rebamipide

rebamipide is commonly used in the treatment of intestinal ulcers, gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.

How Rebamipide Works

Rebamipide protects the mucosal layers of the gastrointestinal tract by increasing gastric blood flow, prostaglandin biosynthesis and decrease free oxygen radicals.

Side Effects of Rebamipide

Dizziness, Dry mouth, Altered bowel movement, Nausea and vomiting, Peripheral oedema, Hot flushes, Menstrual disorders, Rash, Liver enzyme dysfunction.

Rebamipide Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Rebamipide because it may worsen the side effects of Rebamipide such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and hot flushes.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Pregnancy safety use of Rebamipide is not established yet. Hence, Rebamipide should be used only when benefits outweigh the risks.

Lactation Limited Data

Rebamipide is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that Rebamipide does represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving Generally Safe

Rebamipide usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Rebamipide should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. It increases the blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels. Dose adjustment of Rebamipide may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Limited Data

Rebamipide should be used with caution in patients with liver disease because it may increase the hepatic enzyme levels. Dose adjustment of Rebamipide may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
