Sodium lactate is commonly used to treat dehydration and short term fluid replacement after trauma.
Sodium Lactate is a sterile solution that is used for fluid replacement therapy.
Chest pain, Confusion, Breathing difficulty, Muscle spasm, Febrile response, Venous thrombosis, Infection at the injection site
Excessive alcohol consumption may lead to lactic acidosis which will be worsened by the use of Sodium Lactate. Moreover, fluid replacement therapy with Sodium Lactate can be only administered in a hospital setting where alcohol is prohibited.
Sodium lactate can be used during pregnancy as long as the electrolyte and fluid balance is controlled. However, it has to be used cautiously during labour if administered with oxytocin. Please consult your doctor.
