Urea is commonly used topically to treat dermatitis, eczema, excessive skin dryness, keratoses abnormal skin growth and psoriasis

How Urea Works

Urea when used topically, is able to promote hydration of keratin and breakdown of abnormal skin growth in conditions with dry skin by increasing the water uptake by skin layer. It also has anti-itching property.

Urea Related Warnings

Alcohol Safe

Urea, when applied topically, is not known to interact with the consumed alcohol.

Pregnancy Not Safe

There are limited data on the use of Urea during pregnancy in animal studies and human studies. Thus, caution use has to be practised during pregnancy.

Lactation Safe If Prescribed

Urea is not known to absorbed systematically when applied topically. It is also advisable to avoid application of urea on the breast area during the breastfeeding period.

Driving Generally Safe

Urea usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Topical Urea is not advisable to be used in patients with severe kidney impairment.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Topical Urea is safe to use in patients with liver impairment.
