How Vonoprazan Works

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker which binds to the proton pump of gastric parietal cells, leading to higher gastric pH by preventing gastric acid production.

Altered bowel habits, Bloating, Taste disturbance, Jaundice, Increased liver enzyme, Allergy reaction, Skin rash

Vonoprazan Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

There is no known interaction between Vonoprazan and alcohol. However, alcohol intake is not advisable as it may worsen conditions to be treated by Vonoprazan.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity but there are no clinical studies of Vonoprazan use in pregnant women. Thus, it is not advisable to be used during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh the risks.

Lactation Limited Data

Animal studies have shown that Vonoprazan is excreted in animal milk but it is unknown whether Vonoprazan is excreted in human milk. Thus, breastfeeding is not recommended while receiving Vonoprazan treatment.

Driving Generally Safe

There are no studies of Vonoprazan on the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Dose adjustment may be needed in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Limited Data

Dose adjustment of Vonoprazan may be needed in patients with liver impairment.
