Ritonavir Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may accentuate the liver damage caused by Ritonavir. Thus, it is not advisable to consume alcohol and Ritonavir concomitantly.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities but human studies have not shown any reproductive toxicities. Thus, Ritonavir can be used during pregnancy if needed.

Lactation Not Advisable

Excretion of Ritonavir is found in human breast milk but there is no information on the effects of Ritonavir on breastfed babies. An HIV-infected woman should not breastfeed to prevent HIV transmission, developing viral resistance and serious side effects onto the breastfed babies. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

Ritonavir usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Ritonavir is safe to be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Use With Care

No dose adjustment needed for patients with mild to moderate liver impairment. However, Ritonavir is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment. Please consult your doctor.
