Calcium is an important nutrient for the overall wellbeing of the body. Most of the body's calcium content lies within the bones. Calcium not only supports the build and maintanence of bones and teeth, but is also involved in the body's metabolism functions.
As a person age, the regenerative functions of the body decreases gradually, including the joints and the bones. This is more apparent in women in post-menopausal age. During this time, the body's oestrogen levels reduce and causes calcium absorption in the body to decrease. In order to maintain bone health in older age groups, increased intake of calcium is essential.
Some natural food sources of calcium include milk and dairy products, leafy green vegetables and many more. Where daily intake of these nutrients are inadequate, products like the Kordel's Calcium and Magnesium Plus Tablet can act as a supplemental source.
Supplements are used as a secondary support and can not act as a food replacement. Do not attempt to self-diagnose a vitamin deficiency. Always consult a trained healthcare professional prior to consuming any long-term supplements.
