Adjunct to eye surgery is helpful to enhance the outcome of eye surgery. Cataract surgery is an example of a common surgery that requires multiple adjuncts to facilitate and provide convenience for the surgery. Surgical adjuncts in cataract surgery are often seen as sometimes necessary and always expensive. Nevertheless, prevention of a surgical complication, rather than subsequent management, should always be the preferred strategy. Pupillary dilation is important throughout the procedure and this is done by the usage of topical dilator with a combination of Ketorolac and Phenylephydrine. This adjunct help to maintain, enhance dilation during the procedure and improve patient comfort. Apart from dilation, adjunct in eye surgery is helpful to facilitate the surgeons view, protect the ocular surface and eliminate the need for the assistant to wet cornea. This is especially important to allow better access for the surgical procedure to yield better results and minimise adverse effects from the procedure.
