Anxiety is a disorder or a condition where there will be an increased level of worry, nervousness and fear. This condition can even start affecting the quality of life of a person, interpersonal relationships and working life if not controlled. Anxiety can be categorized into several types such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobia, and hypochondriasis. People with anxiety present with symptoms such as nervousness, restlessness, fear, panic attacks, rapid heart rate, fatigue, sleep problems and many more. Anxiety can cause both short term and long term effects on the body. For short term anxiety, it is unlikely to cause severe long term effect however it can still affect to a certain extent such as headaches, insomnia, depression and socially withdrawn. Anxiety can be treated with medications such as anti-anxiety and lifestyle changes but early identification and initiation of treatment are crucial.
