How Carvedilol Works

Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker as well as an alpha-blocker. It works by reducing the peripheral vascular resistance by inhibiting the alpha-1 receptor and by suppressing the renin-angiotensin system by blocking the beta-receptor.

Alcohol Safe

There is no clear contraindication on the consumption of alcohol with Carvedilol. However, the side effects of Carvedilol may be compounded with alcohol consumption and precautionary measures are advisable to be taken by Carvedilol user.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity while there is no human pregnancy data available. Due to its potentially serious side effects on fetal development, Carvedilol is not advisable to be used during pregnancy.
