Cefaclor is commonly used to treat bacterial infections, bacterial infections of urinary tract, ear infection, pneumonia, respiratory tract infection, skin infections
Cefaclor works by binding to the Penicillin-Binding Proteins to inhibit the final step of transpeptidation of the peptidoglycan synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. This results in failure of cell wall synthesis which ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria.

There is no contraindication on the consumption of alcohol with Cefaclor suggested by any previous clinical data.
Animal studies have been shown to be safe for fetal development but no adequate data to suggest the same on human pregnancy study or to suggest harm either. Caution should be taken when commencing someone on Cefaclor during pregnancy.
Small amount of Cefaclor traces has been detected in human breastmilk but no adequate data to suggest harm to the nursing infants. It is therefore advisable to take precautionary measures when taking Cefaclor.
Cefaclor is safe to be used before driving as no side effects profile are known to cause impairment in the concentration level of driving or operating machinery.
Cefaclor should be used with caution in people with severe renal impairment and dosage adjustment may be needed. No dosage adjustment is needed, however, in people with mild to moderate renal impairment.
There is no dosage adjustment or contraindication for people with hepatic impairment according to the manufacturer labelling.
