Cimetidine is commonly used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, acid reflux and peptic ulcer disease.
Cimetidine is an antacid. It competitively inhibits H2-receptors of the gastric parietal cells and reduces the gastric acid secretion, gastric volume and hydrogen ion concentration.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Cimetidine. Taking Cimetidine with alcohol may enhance gastric mucosal irritation.
