How Ciprofloxacin Works

Ciprofloxacin an anti-infective agent. It works by inhibiting enzymes such as DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential in the bacterial replication, transcription, repair and recombination.

Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Ciprofloxacin as there is no known drug interactions.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Ciprofloxacin may be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus such as immature cartilage, however, there are limited human studies.

Lactation Not Advisable

Ciprofloxacin is found in human breast milk. It is probably unsafe to be used during lactation due to potential cartilage defect.

Driving Not advisable

Ciprofloxacin may lead to neurological side effects such as slow reaction time which could affect the ability to drive.

Kidney Use With Care
