Darifenacin is commonly used to treat Overactive Bladder Syndrome
Darifenacin inhibits selectively on the muscarinic M3 receptor which controls urinary bladder contraction. Therefore, it can overcome symptoms of urge incontinence and/or increased urinary frequency and urgency in overactive bladder syndrome.
Headache, Dry eye, Nasal dryness, Constipation, Dry mouth, Abdominal pain, Nausea, Dyspepsia, Skin dryness/flushing.
It is safe to consume alcohol with Darifenacin as there are no drug/alcohol interactions.
Animal studies have shown that male or female infertility is not affected in rats and cats. But, there are limited human studies. The benefits may outweigh risks from use in pregnant women. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Darifenacin is excreted in the breast milk of rats but its safety profile is limited in human data. Please consult with your doctor whether to stop breast- feeding or to halt Darifenacin therapy during lactation unless benefits outweigh the risk of Darifenacin.
Darifenacin may cause side effects such as headaches and blurred vision which could affect concentration and your ability to drive. Only drive if you are well.
Dose adjustment of Darifenacin is not needed in patients with impaired renal function. However, caution should be exercised when managing patients with underlying renal impairment. Please consult your doctor before using it.
Darifenacin should be used with caution in patients with liver disease of varying degree. No dose adjustment is needed in mild liver impairment but the dose for in moderate liver impairment is limited to 7.5 mg daily. Darifenacin is absolutely not for severe liver impairment.
