Alcohol Safe

It is safe to consume alcohol with Econazole but not advisable if you apply alcohol at the same area as you apply Econazole to the skin. Both can cause skin irritation that may worsen the effects.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Econazole may be unsafe to use during pregnancy because it was proven in animal studies that Econazole have harmful effects on the fetus. However, there are limited human studies to guarantee the safety of Econazole used in pregnant women. Please consult your doctor to know your benefits from use in pregnant women is more than the risk.

Lactation Limited Data

Econazole is excreted in breastmilk in a study done on rats after Econazole is administered orally. However, limited human evidence to prove the finding in the rats. Please consult your doctor to discuss the necessity of Econazole use or temporary off breastfeeding.

Driving Generally Safe

Econazole usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Econazole is excreted via urine after being metabolised, however, it is poorly absorbed from skin or vagina. Thus, insignificant amount would present in the body system. Econazole is most probably safe to be used in patients with kidney disease but it should be used with caution if it is taken orally. Dose adjustment may be needed if administered orally.

Liver Limited Data

Liver is the main organ where metabolism of Econazole takes part. Hence, Econazole should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. However, different from oral use, Econazole is insignificant in systemic circulation if it is used topically or as vaginal pessary due to poor absorption through skin and vagina.
