Uses of Exemestane

Exemestane is commonly used to treat advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal patients with positive hormone receptor.

How Exemestane Works

Exemestane is an irreversible, selective aromatase inhibitor. It prevents the conversion of androgens to oestrogens in peripheral tissues

Side Effects of Exemestane

Low white blood cell, Depression, Insomnia, Headache, Dizziness, Hot flushes, Abdominal pain, Nausea, Increased sweating, Joint pain, Musculoskeletal pain, Pain, Fatigue

Exemestane Related Warnings

Alcohol Safe

Consuming alcohol will not affect the pharmacokinetics of Exemestane. There might be drug interactions between alcohol and Exemestane so please consult your doctor before using it.

Pregnancy Not Safe - High Risk

Exemestane is contraindicated for use in pregnant women because it may cause harmful effects to the fetus. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity.

Lactation Limited Data

It is unknown whether Exemestane is excreted into human breast milk and there is no conclusive studies on its effect on the feeding baby. Breastfeeding mother is advised to withhold breastfeeding while on Exemestane.

Driving Not advisable

Exemestane may cause side effects of dizziness and headaches, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Exemestane should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Exemestane may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.
