Finasteride Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is not advisable to use finasteride with alcohol because alcohol may dehydrate and cause difficult urination. The symptoms may also get worse thus, it is recommended to avoid or limit alcohol while taking finasteride. There are few studies which reported that alcohol can increase the risk of prostate cancer in patients taking finasteride.

Pregnancy Not Safe - High Risk

When finasteride is given to a pregnant woman with a male fetus, it will inhibit the development of external genitalia of the fetus. Small amounts of finasteride have been found from the semen in subjects taking them, though it is unknown whether a male fetus can be affected if his mother is exposed to such semen.

Lactation Limited Data

It remains unknown whether finasteride is excreted in human breast milk.

Driving Generally Safe

Finasteride usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

There is limited data on the usage of finasteride in non-dialyzed patients with renal impairment. However, dosage adjustment is not necessary for such patients.

Liver Limited Data

In patients with liver impairment, it is recommended to use Finasteride with caution. There is no data available on the usage of finasteride in patients with liver disease.
