Uses of Flavoxate

Flavoxate is commonly used in the treatment of cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis & urethrotrigonitis. relief of vesico-urethral spasm prior catheterisation, cytoscopy or indwelling catheters & lower urinary tract surgery.

How Flavoxate Works

Flavoxate causes intracellular cyclic AMP accumulation and blocks calcium activity thus inhibiting bladder contractions, increases bladder volume capacity, reduces the threshold and micturition pressure.

Side Effects of Flavoxate

GI disturbances, Vertigo, Headache, Mental confusion (especially elderly), Drowsiness, Nervousness, Leukopenia, Increased heart rate, Allergic reactions, Visual disturbances

Flavoxate Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Flavoxate as it can further exaggerate its side effects of headache and drowsiness. Do not drive unless you're feeling well.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Flavoxate may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Famotidine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Both animal studies and human studies are inconclusive. More research is needed to explore its side effects. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Limited Data

It is unknown whether Exemestane is excreted into human breast milk and there is no conclusive studies on its effect on the feeding baby. Breastfeeding mother is advised to withhold breastfeeding while on Exemestane.

Driving Not advisable

Flavoxate may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, or visual disturbances, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
