Guaifenesin is commonly used to treat cough with mucus
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It facilitates removal of bronchial secretion by increasing the effective hydration of the respiratory gland thereby increasing the volume and reducing the viscosity.

It is safe to consume alcohol with Guaifenesin as drug interaction is not identified.
Guaifenesin may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies are inadequate in showing reproductive toxicity and there is limited data regarding the use of Guaifenesin in pregnant women. However, it can only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor.
Guaifenesin is excreted in human milk. There is limited data on the effect of Guaifenesin in breastfed infants/neonates. Usage is permissible if benefits outweigh the risks
There is no or negligible effect of Guaifenesin on the ability to drive.
Guaifenesin must be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.
In patients with liver disease, Guaifenesin should be used with caution.
