Imatinib is commonly used to treat blood cancer chronic myeloid leukaemia, chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis, gastrointestinal stromal tumour, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, hypereosinophilic syndrome, dermatofibrosarcoma protubrans, mastocytosis

There is no clear contraindication on the consumption of alcohol when taking Imatinib.
Animal and human data suggest reproductive toxicity and fetal harm and thus is not recommended to be used during pregnancy.
Imatinib may be excreted into human breastmilk and due to its potential adverse effects on the nursing infant, it should not be used during breastfeeding.
It is not advisable to drive when under Imatinib treatment due to its potential side effects such as headache and dizziness which can affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
Patients with renal impairment may need dosage adjustment accordingly and close monitoring.
Dosage adjustment is needed in patients with hepatic impairment as well as with close monitoring.
