Uses of Ketoconazole Topical

Topical Ketoconazole is a medication used to treat skin infections caused by fungi or yeasts. It is used in the treatment of skin infections on the trunk, groin, heels, or hands. Topical Ketoconazole has been used to treat skin problems that cause reddish brown patches and yellow or white scaling on the face and chest (seborrheic dermatitis).

Alcohol Safe

As Ketoconazole Topical is used topically, the risk of interacting with alcohol consumed is negligible.

Pregnancy Limited Data

The safety of Ketoconazole Topical in human pregnancy is not established. Therefore, Ketoconazole Topical should only be used for pregnant women after careful risk/benefit assessment by the doctor.

Lactation Limited Data

It is not known whether Ketoconazole Topical is excreted into the human breastmilk. It is not advisable to apply topical Ketoconazole Topical on the chest to avoid accidental contact with the infant.

Driving Generally Safe

Ketoconazole Topical is for external application. Therefore, it does not interfere with the ability to drive.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Ketoconazole Topical is not used for internal consumption and the amount absorbed into the circulatory system also is negligible. It is, therefore, safe to be used even in a patient with renal impairment.

Liver Safe If Prescribed

Ketoconazole Topical is not used for internal consumption and the amount absorbed into the circulatory system also is negligible to cause any effect , therefore, safe to be used even in a patient with liver impairment.
