Loperamide is commonly used in the treatment of acute or chronic diarrhea
Loperamide is an anti-diarrhea medication by reducing the peristaltic action and increases the intestinal movement by binding to opiate receptors in the gut wall. It also increases the anal sphincter's tone to overcome incontinence and urgency.

It is safe to consume alcohol with Loperamide. Consuming Loperamide with alcohol will not interfere with the way the medication works.
Loperamide may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.
Loperamide may appear in the breast milk hence it is not advisable to take loperamide during breat-feeding. Please consult your doctor before use.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Loperamide may cause side effects such as tiredness or dizziness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.
There is no data mentioning the effects of loperamide in patients with kidney disease.
Loperamide should be used with caution in patients with liver disorder. Dose adjustment of Loperamide may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
