Metoprolol Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

Alcohol may have increased concentration in the blood if taken with Metoprolol Tartrate. It can also increase the chances of the patient having low blood pressure.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Metoprolol Tartrate has shown (in animal studies) that it may have some risk factors towards the foetus as Metoprolol crosses placenta barrier. It is better to consult your doctor before taking Metoprolol Tartrate.

Lactation Not Advisable

Metoprolol is found in higher concentration in breast milk, more than mother's plasma. There have been reported cases of hypoglycemia and bradycardia in babies being breastfed by mothers on Metoprolol. Therefore, please consult your doctor if you are on Metoprolol and is breastfeeding.

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Metoprolol tartrate may cause side effects such as dizziness or tiredness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

No dose adjustment needed in patients with renal impairment.

Liver Use With Care

Metoprolol is metabolized by the liver and should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as dose adjustments may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
