Uses of Oseltamivir

Oseltamivir is commonly used to treat influenza a and b as well as prevention of influenza a and b infection.

How Oseltamivir Works

Oseltamivir is a selective inhibitor of influenza virus neuraminidase enzymes, which can be found on the virion surface. It is important for viral entry into uninfected cells and for the release of virus particles from infected cells for the formation and spread of infectious virus.

Side Effects of Oseltamivir

Headache, Nausea, Bronchitis, Herpes simplex infection, Nasopharyngitis, Upper respiratory tract infections, Sinusitis, Insomnia, Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Pain, Dizziness, Fatigue, Fever

Oseltamivir Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Oseltamivir due to concerns of dehydration and stomach discomfort.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Limited Data

Oseltamivir is excreted into mammal breastmilk but its excretion into human breast milk and the effect on feeding baby is unknown. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Generally Safe

Ondansetron cause minimal to no side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Use With Care

Oseltamivir should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Oseltamivir may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Liver Limited Data

Oseltamivir is safe to be used in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Oseltamivir is needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.
