Prasugrel inhibits platelets activation and aggregation by irreversibly blocks the P2Y12 component of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptors on the platelet

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is not recommended to consume alcohol while taking this medication.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Animal studies show that Prasugrel does not carry harmful effect towards embryo or foetal development as well as towards the pregnancy itself. However, as human studies have never been conducted, Prasugrel can only be used in pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Lactation Limited Data

Animal studies show that this medication is excreted in breast milk. No human data available, therefore this medication is not recommended to be used in breastfeeding.

Driving Generally Safe

Prasugrel has not shown to cause impairment in the ability to drive or operate machines. However, only drive if you are feeling well.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Prasugrel is safe to use in patients with kidney impairment

Liver Limited Data

No dose adjustment needed in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment but is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment
