Proguanil is commonly used to treat cerebral malaria, malaria, prevention of malaria
Proguanil is an antimalarial agent. It prevents nucleic acid synthesis in the parasite by inhibiting enzyme, plasmodial dihydrofolate reductase and thus killing the parasite.

It is safe to consume alcohol with Proguanil as there is no known drug interaction.
There are limited human studies of the use of Proguanil in pregnancy. It should not be used in pregnancy unless the benefits from use in pregnant women outweigh the risks. Please consult your doctor.
Proguanil is found to be excreted in human breast milk. However, the amount is negligible.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. There is no evidence that Proguanil may affect the ability to drive and general concentration.
Proguanil should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose titration of Proguanil according to clinical status may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
There is no information regarding the safety of Proguanil in patient with liver disease.
