Racecadotril is commonly used to treat diarrhea, dysentery
Racecadotril inhibits the membrane-bound enkephalinase which will increase the level of the endogenous opioids, in turn increasing the chloride absorption that will relieve acute Diarrhea.
Headache, Tonsillitis, Skin rash, Oedema, Allergic reactions
There is no known interaction between alcohol and Racecadotril when used concomitantly.
Animal studies have not shown any reproductive toxicities and there are limited data on the use of Racecadotril in pregnant women. Thus, it is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.
