Ademetionine is commonly used in the treatment of alcoholic fatty liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases, liver disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Ademetionine is a natural amino acid which can be found in the body. It acts mainly as a coenzyme which is important for the development of phospholipid bilayer of cell membranes, neurotransmitters formation in the central nervous system, sulfured compounds, and hepatic glutathione.

It is not advisable to consume alcohol with ademetionine as there is limited data on the interaction between both.
High doses of ademetionine administered during the last 3 months of pregnancy does not cause any adverse effect on the fetus. It is advisable to use ademetionine in the first trimester of pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh potential risks.
The decision to use ademetionine during breastfeeding depends on the benefits of treatment to the mother or the benefits of breastfeeding to the infant.
Ademetione usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
It is recommended to use ademetionine with caution in patients with renal impairment.
Ademetionine is safe to be used in patients with liver impairment as the pharmacokinetic parameters are similar in patients with chronic liver disease and healthy volunteers.
