Sertaconazole is commonly used in the treatment of fungal infections, severe fungal infections and dandruff.
Sertaconazole inhibits the 14-a demethylase which reduces the production of ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component for fungal cell membranes, the reduction in its production will eventually cause the fungal cell membrane to be more permeable leading to leakage of cellular contents.
