Sorafenib is commonly used to treat kidney cancer.

How Sorafenib Works

Sorafenib is specifically for advanced renal cell carcinoma which is able to reduce the blood flow to the tumour.

Hand and foot skin reaction, Hypophosphataemia, Hypertension, Bleeding, Tinnitus, Depression, Erectile dysfunction, Hair loss, Gut disturbances, Muscle/Joint pain, Tingling and numbness of extremities

Sorafenib Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

There is no known interaction between alcohol and Sorafenib when used concomitantly. However, it is not advisable to consume alcohol during cancer treatment in general. Please consult your doctor.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicities but there are no data on the use of Sorafenib in pregnant women. Thus, it is not advisable to use Sorafenib during pregnancy unless clearly indicated. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

Excretion of Sorafenib has been found in animal milk but it is unknown in human milk. Due to its toxicity, Sorafenib is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding.

Driving Generally Safe

There are no studies on the effect of Sorafenib on the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Safe If Prescribed

Sorafenib is safe to be used in patients with kidney impairment.

Liver Use With Care

No dose adjustment needed for patients with mild to moderate liver impairment. However, the safety profile is not established in patients with severe liver impairment. Thus, caution use has to be practised in this group of patient.
