There is no known interaction between alcohol and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate when used concomitantly. However, alcohol consumption can increase the risk of liver damage, further accentuate the side effect of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate on the liver. Thus, alcohol is not advisable to be used concomitantly with Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate.
Human studies and animal studies do not show reproductive toxicities. Thus, Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate can be used during pregnancy if indicated. Please consult your doctor.
Human studies have shown the excretion of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate in breastmilk but there are limited data on the effects of Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate in breastfed babies. Thus, Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. In fact, women with chronic HBV infection and HIV infection is not advisable to breastfeed their babies.
Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Caution use and dose adjustment may be needed in patients with kidney impairment.
Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is safe to be used in patients with liver impairment.
