How Vildagliptin Works

Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor which is found to increase the incretin hormone (Glucagon-like peptide 1) and potentiate the secretion of insulin in the beta cells

Nausea, Peripheral oedema, Hypoglycaemia, Joint pain, Liver dysfunction, Upper respiratory tract infection, Skin rash, Pancreatitis

Vildagliptin Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

There is no known interaction between Vildagliptin and alcohol but alcohol is known to alter blood glucose level which may cause complication or uncontrolled blood sugar level in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity at a high dose but there are limited data of Vitagliptin use in pregnant women. Thus, Vildagliptin is not advisable to be used during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation Not Advisable

Vildagliptin has been shown to be excreted in animal milk but excretion in human milk is unknown. Thus, Vildagliptin is not advisable to be used during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.

Driving Generally Safe

There are no studies of Vildagliptin on the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Dose adjustment is required in patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment.

Liver Use With Care
