This condition primarily affects persons in their forties and fifties. Because menopause is accompanied by oestrogen insufficiency, which accelerates bone loss, menopausal women are at a higher risk of osteoporosis.
Many factors, including genes, food, physical activity, hormonal levels, and lifestyle, might affect bone health. Calcium's importance in bone health has long been recognised.
