About Valens Thixer Thickener 300g
Dysphagia means difficulty swallowing. The difficulty swallowing specific foods or liquids varies among people with dysphagia.
Most swallowing issues can be treated, although the treatment depends on the type of dysphagia. Oropharyngeal dysphagia is treated differently than esophageal dysphagia.
Treatment options for oropharyngeal dysphagia include the following:
Oropharyngeal dysphagia is tough to cure if it's caused by a nervous system disorder. Because these issues are rarely treated by medication or surgery. Oropharyngeal dysphagia is handled in three ways to ensure safe eating and drinking:
1. Swallowing therapy
You may be sent to a speech and language therapist (SLT) for swallowing therapy. An SLT is trained to help those who have trouble swallowing. SLTs employ a variety of approaches to help you, such as teaching you swallowing exercises.
2. Dietary modifications
You may be directed to a nutritionist for dietary guidance to ensure a healthy, balanced diet. A SLT can suggest softer foods and thicker liquids that are easier to swallow. They may also try to help you at mealtimes. You can also use products like Valens Thixer to thicken your food or drinks.
3. Feeding tubes
Feeding tubes can help you eat as you regain your swallowing function. If you have severe dysphagia, you may need them to avoid starvation and dehydration.
Treatments for esophageal dysphagia include the following:
Esophageal dysphagia is a term that refers to swallowing difficulties caused by esophageal disorders.
1. Prescription medication
Medication may be used to treat esophageal dysphagia depending on the etiology. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) used to treat indigestion may help relieve symptoms of esophageal constriction or scarring.
2. Endoscopic dilatation
Endoscopic dilatation is commonly used to treat dysphagia. It can also stretch a scarred esophagus. Endoscopic dilatation occurs during an endoscopic esophageal examination.
