A uric acid meter is a tool used to calculate how much uric acid is in your blood or urine. Most uric acid dissolves in your blood and goes to the kidneys and flows out through urine. If your body produces too much uric acid and doesn’t release it through urine, it will be crystalizing inside the joints. This condition is called gout. Gout causes arthritis, which forms inflammation around the joints. High uric acid levels can also develop other diseases such as kidney stones and kidney failure.
There are two ways to check uric acid, either using a blood test or a urine test. The uric acid meter is a recent technology used to test uric acid. It is more convenient and easy. A health care professional will take a blood sample from your vein using a device that comes with a needle strip. A small amount of blood is withdrawn without any pain and allocated inside the device and then the device will generate readable results on the screen.
If your blood test shows high uric acid levels you may have problems with your kidneys or other health problem. Please refer to your doctor for further treatment.
